Healing Hooves at Secret Hill Farms
Our Story
Every life deserves a second chance.
Healing Hooves at Secret Hill Farms began with a simple belief:
every life deserves a second chance.
What started with a love for animals has grown into a nonprofit farm animal rescue dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong care to animals who need a safe place to call home.
Here at Healing Hooves, our animals are more than residents of the farm — they are family. Some arrive neglected, unwanted, injured, or simply in need of a new beginning. Each one has a story, a personality, and a special place here.
Along the way, we discovered something beautiful:
While we were healing the animals,
they were helping people heal too.
Our mission has grown beyond rescue. We are creating a farm where children, families, and members of our community can connect with animals, learn, laugh, make memories, and experience firsthand the special bond that can form between people and animals.
Every purchase helps provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and lifelong love to the rescued animals who call Healing Hooves home — and helps us continue creating a place where animals and people can heal, grow, and thrive together.
Thank you for becoming part of their story.
Rescued Lives. Restored Hope.

Help us bring
the children back.
Tours are currently paused while we rebuild safe outdoor animal enclosures. Please coordinate visits and volunteer opportunities with the farm in advance.
Founded by Shannon McKinnon, Healing Hooves is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Middleburg, Florida. Our educational and community programs have already reached 316 children, including homeschool students and children with disabilities or special needs.
A move to a property with additional barns and stalls offered hope for the future. But the relocation was more expensive and complicated than expected. Our outdoor pens weren’t ready, our tours stopped, and we lost an important source of income for the animals’ care.
Many of our barnyard animals are temporarily living in stalls while we work to finish their proper outdoor spaces. We urgently need lumber, fencing, construction materials and daily-care support.
Our future goals include dedicated animal-assisted and therapeutic programs for children with special needs. These are not programs currently offered.

From the heart of the farm
Our promise to them
hasn’t changed.
Rosie, JJ, Skunk, Liberty, our baby calf and our new baby goats don’t know about budgets or relocation expenses. They depend on us for food, safety and love. We are determined to honor that commitment.
“Those weren’t just farm tours. Those were moments that mattered.”— Bethany Shepherd, Director of Operations
Already, kindness is finding its way here. A local grocery store has donated surplus produce. Neighbors have offered time. Businesses have contributed what they can. We are grateful for every person who has stepped forward.
We’re asking our community to help restore something that was already making a difference: safe animal spaces, hands-on education, and a place where children and families can connect.
A little kindness. A lasting difference.
Help bring the children back.
Safe spaces for the animals. A hopeful future for the farm. It starts with a community that cares.
